Our First Oyster Mushrooms

You might remember some of our posts from earlier this spring about innoculating oak & box elder logs with mushrooms. Our first flush of oyster mushrooms appeared this week! They really like the cooler temperatures so we’re hoping in the future they’ll be a nice addition to our early and late season vegetables. The shiitake mushrooms have not yet made an appearance but they take longer to “run” in the oak logs than the oyster mushrooms on the box elder (a softer wood). Hopefully we’ll see some early next summer and have enough of both oysters and shiitake to sell at that point. We source all of our organic mushroom spawn from Field and Forest Products and they also have log kits for beginners.

You can order produce via email from the list below, we’ll let you know when your order is ready and then you can pick up from our produce cooler (located next to our hoop house at our farm, N3239 County Rd CC, Stockholm, WI) at your convenience.
