Happy Solstice everyone! Feels like this summer is racing by but ask me in August and I probably will have changed my tune. Thanks to all the warm and wet weather, crops are moving along nicely and we’ve got a few new items for sale this week including beets, garlic scapes, and collard greens.
We got caught up on rain and then some during our June monsoon season measuring over 5 inches over the last week. Unfortunately when the ground gets that saturated it can equal erosion. Some of our beds that hadn’t been planted yet (no roots in place to hold all the soil together) ended up with some of the worst wash outs we’ve had here. Luckily, with our grass aisles, the top soil doesn’t go super far and the temporary rivers don’t have room to build up momentum to do more damage.
Check out our availability list on our weekly email here and shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with your order and pick up on the farm Friday PM or anytime Saturday. This Friday, June 22nd will be our first ever Pepin Farmers Market next to Cucina Ceci from 4-7PM. We also contribute regularly to the Wabasha Market Share, a weekly mixed box of produce from Wabasha Market Vendors and Lake Pepin Local Farmers. If you’re interested in learning more about the market share, you can contact Sara George at email@example.com.
You can also find our produce for sale at E & S Fresh Market in Pepin, and used at Harbor View Cafe, Lena’s Lucky Star, and Stockholm Pie Company this week.
